Cayce S.W.A.T. Team members prove to be sharp-shooters at summit at Ft. Jackson
Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - This week, members of Cayce Department of Public Safety’s S.W.A.T. team attended a S.W.A.T. Summit held at Fort Jackson. S.W.A.T. is an acronym for Special Weapons and Tactics. These are the guys that get called when someone is barricaded in a building, holding a hostage, or any other situation that’s above the training of many road officers. The summit was an opportunity for teams from across the area to learn and improve their skills.
There were also a number of opportunities for the officers in attendance to compete against one another and other teams in some contest to test and improve their shooting skills. In many of these contests, Cayce’s officers did very well. Out of the 145 officers present, Cpl. John Maynard won the overall top shot. He brought home a brand-new FN America pistol. Sergeant 1st Class Evan Antley won the 5-card poker pistol match. As a team, the guys from Cayce placed 2nd overall! This ought to make the folks in and around Cayce feel a little safer everyday knowing the S.W.A.T. Team is ready to respond if called on.
Give it up for (left-right) Maynard, Antley, SRO Paul Sanguiliano and Cpl. Jacob Harlow.
