Pedestrian struck and killed on Augusta Hwy. near Gilbert Thursday night

Gilbert, SC (Paul Kirby) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Augusta Hwy near the Murray Town area close to Gilbert late Thursday. The accident occurred at 10:15 p.m. at Augusta Hwy. and Peach Orchard Road. This is in the vicinity of Priceville Road and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s West Region headquarters. Law enforcement, the fire service, and EMS responded, but the person had succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

No details have been released at this point regarding this accident and death other than the person was struck by a Chevy pickup heading north. Although a number of rumors are being passed around regarding this, we will wait for the official report before updating our's. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office investigated the death and the SC Highway Patrol is in charge of the accident investigation.
