One dead in single-vehicle accident near Oak Grove, Corley Mill

Oak Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) – One person died Monday evening after a single-vehicle accident in the 1800 block of Jessamine Road between the Oak Grove and the Corley Mill areas off Sunset Boulevard. This is close to the sharp curve that is between Mineral Springs and Leaphart Roads. According to troopers with the SCHP, a Jeep Wrangler left the road in that area and struck a tree. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries. Troopers say that person was not wearing a seatbelt. Lexington County EMS responded to the accident as well as personnel from the county’s fire service. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department also had personnel on the scene assisting with traffic control.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office dispatched deputies to investigate the death. The SC Highway Patrol will oversee the accident investigation. The name of the deceased has not been released and will not be until the coroner has had the opportunity to notify the decedent’s family.
