Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – Gaston police officers recovered a truck earlier this week that had been reported stolen from somewhere in Lexington County the week before. They did so after the suspect who was driving the truck tried to elude them on foot by picking a strange place to hide.
According to Major Stephen Watkins, spokesman for the GPD, an officer spotted the red Chevrolet Avalanche in the town. When he realized it didn’t belong to the man driving it, he surveilled it while other officers converged on the area. Eventually, the driver of the truck turned into a store where the Gaston officers followed. When he realized what was up, he made a dash into the store’s bathroom, perhaps thinking the officers would respect his privacy. They did not! Gaston police officer took him into custody and have since charged him with possession of the stolen vehicle. He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
