Pedestrian killed after being struck by vehicle on Broad Street Saturday night

Gilbert, SC (Paul Kirby) – A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle on Broad Street near Gilbert late Saturday night. This accident happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. near Green Hill Drive according to the SC Highway Patrol. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has since identified the victim as Damarj Torrel, 18, of Lexington.

According to Corporal Sonny Collins, no charges are expected in the accident because the pedestrian was walking in the road at the time of the collision. The SCHP is still investigating the accident.
