Gaston police sergeant nets large amount of marijuana in traffic stop

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – Gaston Police Department’s Sergeant Robert Marzol was patrolling the town earlier this week when he noted a car that had an expired license tag. He pulled the car over and after the car stopped, he noticed something that gave him probable cause to have the driver step out while he searched the vehicle. It didn’t take the sergeant long to locate 4.5 lbs. of marijuana in the driver’s possession.

According to Major Stephen Watkins, spokesman for the Gaston Police Department, the driver of the vehicle has been charged with not having a SC Driver License and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center where he made an appearance at the next scheduled bond court.
