Lowes partnership supports L.P.D. "Free Box Fan Program"

Lexington, SC - With temperatures of 100 degrees already experienced this spring, Chief Terrence Green would like remind the greater Midlands community that the Lexington Police Department continues to offer free box style fans for those who are in need of a way to cool down over the hot South Carolina summer months.

The “Free Box Fan Program” has been ongoing for over ten years and this continues largely from the generosity of Town of Lexington business and individuals with donations of fans. Though this program has been focused on Town of Lexington residents, when possible fans have also been available to those in need in the greater Midlands are.

On Monday, June 3, 2019, Major Matt Davis, along with officers of the Community Action Team (C.A.T.), received two dozen 20” box fans from Lowes Home Improvement in Lexington and to assist in continuing this community outreach program.

Through the month of July 2019, Lowes Home Improvement in Lexington is offering the Pelonis 20-inch fans at a 25% off discount if they are purchased and donated to continue this program. The Pelonis 20-inch 3-speed indoor box fan in the colors of white or black is eligible for this discount.

Those who purchase fans at Lowes Home Improvement in Lexington can leave their donation at the store where an officer will pick them up, or donations of fans, no matter where they have been purchased, can also be made during business hours at the Lexington Police Department which is located at 111 Maiden Lane in Lexington. Only new in packaging fans can be accepted.

In-kind donation forms are available for donations to this program through the Lexington Police Department Foundation. The in-kind donation form includes a tax identification number for tax deduction purposes.

Those who are in need of a box fan can come to the Lexington Police Department for assistance. Fans can be picked up during business hours and Community Action Team (C.A.T.) members are available to assist citizens who need a fan dropped off at their residence. An acceptance and release of liability form is completed for all fans that are given away.
