Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – According to the County of Lexington’s social media page, the climate conditions outside have changed for the better since all general debris burning was banned in the county several weeks ago. As a result of those changes, the South Carolina Forestry Commission has lifted the statewide Red Flag Fire Alert effective yesterday. The experts at the commission say that weather conditions have been improving all across the state.
As a result of this action, the Lexington County Fire Chief has cancelled the ban on general debris burning throughout the unincorporated areas of Lexington County. However, there are some rules you still have to follow to keep from getting hurt, damaging your or the property of your neighbors, or get in trouble with law enforcement. To make it easy for you to understand, the staff that keeps the public informed in Lexington County has provided a quick tip guide card which has everything on it you need to know in order to stay safe and on the right side of the law when conducting a burn.
