Mobile home damaged by fire near Boiling Springs

Boiling Springs, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was damaged by fire in the Boiling Springs area of the county Monday afternoon. The Lexington County Fire service received the call shortly before 2:00 p.m. The original caller reported the fire was in the 600 block of Windy Wood Road near the intersection of Calks Ferry Road. This is between the Boiling Springs, Fairview, and Pelion areas.

The first fire truck to arrive was from the Boiling Springs station. Its crew reported that there was brown smoke coming from the eaves of the home. Once enough firefighters were on the scene to make the attack, they entered the home and knocked the fire down quickly. The incident commander reported that the fire was under control at 2:27 p.m.

Firefighters requested the assistance of a deputy from the sheriff’s department because there was some sort of dispute going on between two men on the scene. Eventually, another deputy was requested to assist in keeping the pair separated. The exact cause of their disagreement has not been released; however it is believed that they were angry at each other about the fire. A fire marshal responded to the home to investigate the cause of the blaze.

The amount of damage to the mobile home has not been released.
