Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - The Red Cross is asking for help from both seasoned and new donors to help replenish a dwindling supply of blood that is desperately needed during the summer months. Often, the blood supply is challenged this time of the year as people have vacations on their minds. There is also an increase in outdoor, adventurous activities and travel. It’s not that people stop caring enough to donate blood, they simply have other things on their minds.
To help fill the need for blood, the City of Cayce will be hosting a blood drive on Friday, June 14th from 7:00 a.m. thru 1:00 p.m.in the Council Chambers at the Cayce City Hall. They felt like the range of time would make it possible to give early or during someone’s lunch break if necessary. Most employers will allow an employee to come in a few moments late or take an extended lunch break to give blood. If they are skeptical about what you are doing, invite them to come along and give themselves! The organizers in Cayce have a 30-unit goal and know that the citizens and staff of the city and its surrounding areas can make that happen!
It’s best to make an appointment to give to ensure your wait is short. You can make those by visiting the American Red Cross’ website at www.redcrossblood.org and entering the Sponsor Code: Cayce. You can also just walk in on that day if you forget or don’t have time to make an appointment.
It only takes between 10 and 12 minutes to give blood and one donation can save up to three lives. Please make an appointment to give yourself and pass this information along to friends, family, and co-workers!
