Gilbert, SC - A Gilbert Middle School student participates in a “wise” learning opportunity this summer in recognition of her academic excellence.
Kadence Steen, a rising seventh grader, applied for Clemson University’s Project WISE, receiving a scholarship
to attend a week of camp in June. She submitted her grades and a teacher recommendation, as well as an essay explaining why she should attend the program.
Project WISE, a STEM-based, engineering-focused summer camp, offers female students entering seventh or eighth grade the chance to explore fields such as bio engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and mathematics through hands-on activities. Students learn how science and engineering personally affect their lives, discovering career fields that match their interests.
