West Columbia FD expansion and renovations to begin soon

West Columbia, SC - J. Davis Construction, a 22-year old company based out of Anderson, SC, will soon begin a project that will expand the existing West Columbia Fire Department building to accommodate a growing and changing firefighting team. The expansion will feature additional living quarters, facilities for female team members, and upgraded common spaces for training. Having been housed in the same building for over 40 years, the added space will allow the West Columbia Fire Department to better serve and respond to the community’s needs and enable them to maintain an evolving workforce.

Over the years, J. Davis has completed a variety of community and emergency service projects and according to WCFD Fire Chief Chris Smith, this history was a key factor in the hiring decision. Smith said, “We are excited to have the J. Davis team get this project under way, as it has been anticipated for a while. Not only will all the firefighters that work out of this facility enjoy the benefits of the addition and renovation. But the city and the community will also benefit from the changes to the facility.” Work is slated to begin at the end of June 2019.
