Irmo Fire District runs overturned vehicle, finds multiple new cars damaged at Nissan dealership

St. Andrews, SC (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters with the Irmo Fire District were dispatched to a multiple vehicle wreck Saturday evening where callers were reporting that one of the vehicles was overturned and someone might be trapped in the wreckage. They weren’t aware that when they arrived, most of the vehicles involved in the crash would be on a lot where other cars were for sale, and all those were sitting on display unoccupied.

The wreck occurred on Fernandina Road, the frontage road to I-26, near the intersection of Beatty Road. When the first responders pulled up, they did find that one vehicle was resting on its side after the wreck. They also found that the car had careened out of control before striking the others and smashing into multiple new cars. Those were in the front row of Dick Smith Nissan, a well-known new and pre-owned car and truck dealership.

The firefighters quickly investigated the scene and found that no one was trapped in the car resting on its side. The person who was in that vehicle was treated quickly and then turned over to an EMS crew. That person was transported to Lexington Medical Center for further care. Troopers say that nine shiny new cars in total were damaged on the lot. There’s been no word from the local body shop on their condition.
