Situation resolved after stand-off in the City of Cayce

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – At about 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, dispatchers with the Cayce Department of Public Safety received a disturbance call in the area of Slann Drive. When officers arrived, they found someone on the roof of a residence who claimed to have a weapon. Officers had not seen a weapon, but treated the incident as if there were one.

Officers used exceptional restraint in this situation while negotiating with the subject to keep that subject, the public, and officers from being injured. Chief Byron Snellgrove says that the suspect eventually came off the roof and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. No one was injured during the incident. Negotiators from Cayce along with Lexington County Sheriff's Department were assisting with the process of talking the individual down.
