Stork in the form of county's first responders deliver baby Friday morning

Lexington, SC (Diana Nation) - Lexington County first responders experience and see trauma on a daily basis. However, an EMS call this Friday morning brought smiles to the faces of four lucky Lexington County Emergency Services personnel.

Sgt. Matthew Gottlieb and Cpl. Daniel Martin of the Lexington County EMS, along with Firefighter. Dru Haffly and Engineer Sanford Brown from Lexington County Fire Service Station 24, helped a loving mother and father welcome their newborn into the world.

At 8 a.m., in the back of Lexington County EMS Ambulance, Cpl. Martin delivered Madelyn Sky Sharpe. Her father, Justin Sharpe, cut the umbilical cord before snapping a picture of Madelyn resting on her ferociously strong mother, Ashley Sharpe.

On their Facebook page, the County of Lexington said all of their staff wanted to wish the Sharpe family a happy, long and warm life together. In honor of their work, LCEMS Ambulance Unit 8 will now receive a stork sticker to be placed on the back window of their unit. Thank you to all of our first responders!
