Gaston U-6 Dixie Softball Sweeties heading to World Series in Louisiana

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) - The girl’s U-6 softball team from Gaston recently won the SC State title for their age group making them State Champs! They play in the Dixie Softball League’s Sweeties Division. These talented girls beat out all other teams by playing hard, practicing hard, and working as a team. All year long, they listened to their coaches, learned and then took that knowledge onto the field.

Now, the girls will be going to the World Series in Alexandria, Louisiana at the end of July. As with any travel, there is a great deal of expenses associated with this trip. Because these are young children, you must figure lodging, food, and all the rest for the players, their parents, and even siblings in some cases. The game at this age is really family affair. These girls are already practicing at least three days per week and according to their parents and coaches, they’re fundraising much of the rest.

In order to defray the cost of the trip, the girls have several more fundraisers planned to help get them to Louisiana. One is a golf tournament planned for Saturday, July 13th at Hidden Valley Golf Club in Gaston. They need cash donations, items to raffle off, hole sponsors, and teams willing to play to make that a success.

To find out how you can register for the golf tournament, participate in other fundraisers, or help in any other way, you can follow theses talented girls on Facebook by clicking this LINK.
