Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A Lexington man was arrested for driving under the influence after he wrecked his vehicle causing the traffic signals at Gibson Road and West Main Street to be out much of Wednesday morning. This all happened just before 1:30 a.m. according to the police. Coleman Terrapin, 24, was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center after being treated for minor injuries he received in the crash. According to police officers, Terrapin failed a field sobriety test after the collision.
Terrapin was driving in Lexington on US Hwy. 378 when he apparently struck a raised concrete curb, bounced over a few lanes, and hit the raised concrete median. He eventually plowed down the traffic signal controller with his red Toyota. It took much of the morning for traffic engineers to replace the device that helps control the signals at this major intersection of West Main Street and Hwy. 378 at the Ford dealership.
Terrapin was charged with Driving Under the Influence, 1st Offense. He went before a bond judge later Wednesday morning and received a PR bond.
