NO BOND today for suspected drunk driver

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Michael Jordan Nichols, 36, who was charged with Felony DUI resulting in Great Bodily Injury for hitting a Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputy while the K-9 handler was driving his county assigned cruiser several weeks ago, was denied bond today in a Magistrate's Court in Lexington. He was charged today by the SC Highway Patrol because he had been in the hospital recovering from his own injuries until this morning.

According to Lance Corporal David Jones on the SCHP, Nichols will have a General Sessions hearing sometime in August. Unless he hires an attorney that can ask for and receive another or expedited bond hearing, and then successfully wins an appeal of the judge’s ruling from today, Nichols will sit in the Lexington County Detention Center on Gibson Road in Lexington. Deputy Hall still hasn’t returned to duty.
