Town of Lexington plans music & fireworks on Friday, announces areas that are off-limits

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - On Friday, June 28, 2019, the 246th Army Band will perform at the Icehouse Amphitheater on West Main Street in Lexington. Because the Fourth of July falls almost mid-week, there will be celebrations all over for about the next nine days in honor of the birth of our country. On Friday night, there will be patriotic and contemporary music and a firework show at the Icehouse among other things.

In preparation for the show, the Town of Lexington Police Department has announced a number of off-limit areas starting Friday morning. These are areas that will be closed in preparation for or during the Icehouse event. These areas include both parking lots on Church St. which will be closed all day Friday. Additionally, Virginia Hylton Park will close at 7:00 pm and Church St. from Hendrix St. to Elm St. will be closed from 8:45 pm - 9:30 pm during the event.

The Town of Lexington invites everyone to come in and join the fun during this wonderful celebration. There are many wonderful places to eat, drink, and enjoy in the old downtown districts and the areas that surround it. The police remind everyone that if they plan to drink Friday or during the entire celebration of the Fourth, ensure that you have a reliable way home. Most bartenders will gladly help you get in touch with one of the many discount ride programs that will be in effect. Enjoy the festivities!
