Gilbert, SC (Paul Kirby) – A pickup truck left Augusta Hwy., crashed through a fence, and ended up partially submerged in a pond Thursday afternoon. A part of the fence was lodged in the truck’s windshield close to the driver’s seat. Even though the wreck seemed to be serious, it doesn’t appear as if anyone were seriously injured.
The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. and firefighters, EMTs, and sheriff’s deputies responded. The people first on the scene reported that there was one person standing on the truck, and another person was in the pond. The first responders reported that no one was trapped in the truck when they arrived.
Firefighters and EMS checked the passengers of the truck and then quickly left the scene. Deputies remained at the incident location until the SC Highway Patrol arrived on the scene. They will be investigating the accident.
