One pedestrian dead after being struck by Harley near SC State Farmer’s Market

Dixianna, SC (Paul Kirby) – One person is dead after he was struck by a Harley Davidson while walking along Charleston Highway near the farmer’s market Wednesday night. This happened a little after 9:30 p.m. The fire service, EMS, and deputies responded with SC State Troopers. The farmer’s market is in the Dixianna area of Lexington County.

Troopers say that a person was walking along the highway when struck by the bike that was headed south toward Gaston. The rider of the bike was not seriously injured. Motorists said that some portions of the road were closed for several hours while the SCHP investigated the deadly accident. Law enforcement officer were at one point turning people around and advising them to take an alternate route.

Deputies from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s office responded to participate in the death investigation. Coroner Fisher will not release the name of the deceased until she has fully notified the individual’s family. There is no set time that this will happen, and it is fully dependent on that notification.
