Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – One person has died in a single-vehicle accident that occurred around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening. The SC Highway Patrol said that this accident happened near where St. Matthews Road (SC Hwy. 6) and Gus Sturkie Road intersect east of Swansea.
According to Lance Corporal Judd Jones, a spokesman for SC State Troopers, the vehicle was occupied by just the driver when it left the road and struck a culvert. It then overturned and struck a house. Corporal Jones said the driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s Office has not released the name of the deceased. She only does so after properly notifying that person’s family. That normally takes up to 24 hours.
