Lexington, SC – Chief Terrence Green announced Wednesday that Harold Greg Heath, age 58 of Lexington, South Carolina, has been arrested for the armed robbery of the Sunoco gas station on the evening of Monday, July 29, 2019.
At approximately 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Sunoco, which is located at 5019 Augusta Road in Lexington, for an armed robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they spoke to an employee who stated that a white male, who has been identified as Harold Heath, entered the store and reached over the counter to take money from the cash drawer. When the employee began to push the robber away, he made a threat that he would shoot her while his hand was under his shirt holding what appeared to be a weapon.
During the course of the investigation, detectives received tips that Harold Heath was the man who committed this crime. These tips came in response to the department’s media release that included photos and videos which were shared by the local news and on Facebook and Twitter.
On the evening of Tuesday, July 30, 2019, Harold Heath was arrested and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center. When Heath appeared at the Lexington County Bond Court, he was given a bond of $8,000.00 and will only be released if he returns to an alcohol/drug rehabilitation center.
