QuikTrip truck stop coming to Lexington

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – QuikTrip, a high-end truck stop, is coming to Lexington. It will be built on a tract that has been an eyesore for some time. According to Lexington Mayor Steve MacDougall, the truck stop is to be built on South Lake Drive adjacent to the westbound exit ramp of I-20.

MacDougall said the QuikTrip will occupy most of the property from the I-20 ramp to Glassmaster Road and back toward the old Tidewater facility. This includes the dilapidated Hardees which has been unoccupied for years. MacDougall said that he believed the Shell station at Glassmaster and South Lake will close in the next few weeks and will somehow be integrated into the QT.

QuikTrip is a truck stop unlike any other. According to their website, the Tulsa, Oklahoma headquartered company has 800 + stores in 11 states. With $11 billion in revenues, QT is listed by Forbes as one of the largest privately held businesses. There are already several in SC near Charlotte.

A QuikTrip features a QT Kitchen with items like pizzas, soft pretzels, breakfast burritos, and huge sandwiches. They also have ice cream, tacos, and other food items to satisfy most every taste.

They pride themselves on friendly efficient employees and have been listed on Fortune magazines as one of the Best Companies to Work For fourteen years. Nationwide, there are more than 20,000 people employed by QT.

The QuikTrip family gives back to their surrounding communities. According to their website, each year they give 5% of their net profits to local charities.
