Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Cayce Department of Public Safety has broadcast a statewide be on the lookout for a man wanted for questioning in an early morning fire on Lexington Avenue in the city. The fire seriously injured a woman in the home.
Cayce police say they are looking for a black male that’s approximately 46 years old. He is reportedly bald, 5’ 11” tall, and weighs between 190 and 200 pounds. Officers say he had on short pants, no shirt, and was wearing tennis shoes before he fled the scene as firefighters and the police began arriving. Investigators also believe the man could have burns on his upper body. He was last seen in the vicinity of the house that burned on Lexington Avenue in the City of Cayce.
Investigators believe this man may have started a fire that seriously injured the woman early Tuesday morning. That victim is currently being treated at Prisma’s Palmetto Richland campus. Cayce officers have responded to the hospital to try and learn more about what transpired prior to the fire.
Agents with the SC State Law Enforcement Division are assisting Cayce with the processing of the crime scene. Meanwhile, officers are looking for the man across the state. Cayce has deployed their K-9s in hopes that the dogs may indicate where the man went after leaving the fire. Cayce officers have been able to identify the suspect by name however, we are not releasing that name without approval from the police. It is believed that he and the victim had a history and at times, their relationship has been tumultuous.
