Lexington High School to have two more chain stores as neighbor

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The guessing can stop, the signs are up. The building pad at the intersection of Charter Oak and Augusta Highway just across from the Technology Center and Lexington High School is being prepared for a McDonald’s and a Starbucks. The spot has had people guessing for some time but NAI Avant has let the cat out of the bag. They tagged their sign with what’s being built. Since hitting Facebook, the reaction to what’s to come has been mixed; some are for, while others wanted a bit more.

This area is exploding with growth. It’s a main thoroughfare for commuters from Batesburg-Leesville, Gilbert, and points west of Lexington. Since the Lowe’s Foods was built, new retail and service businesses have been pouring in. With a large high school full of teens across the street and all those hungry and thirsty commuters driving by, this seems to be a good choice for both these businesses.

Although the building pad is complete, a quick call to the general contractor wasn’t very enlightening. If all goes well, folks in the area could be sipping overpriced coffee and scarfing down healthy (LOL) burgers by early next year.
