West Columbia, SC - Six of the Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality samples collected on Wednesday, August 21 came back above the standard for swimming. A swimming advisory is being issued for the section of the Lower Saluda and Congaree Rivers from the Upper Landing at Saluda Shoals Park to the Rosewood Drive Landing also known as the Jordan Memorial Boat Ramp. Follow-up sampling was conducted today, August 22, and those results will be reported tomorrow afternoon.

Contact recreation such as swimming, wading, tubing, and paddling is not recommended in the advisory area. At risk groups, including children, people with compromised immune systems, and people with open wounds, should use extreme caution.
