Driver arrested after leading troopers on pursuit Wednesday

Boiling Springs, SC (Paul Kirby) – A man was arrested Wednesday morning after he led law enforcement agencies on a short pursuit in the central part of the county. According to Sr. Trooper David Jones, spokesman for Troop 1, the man was caught, taken into custody, and is charged with several traffic violations and a drug possession charge.

Jones said that the trooper was patrolling I-20 Wednesday morning when he attempted to stop a vehicle for a violation. The trooper activated his warning devices near the 47 mm but instead of pulling over, the driver of the vehicle sped away. He exited the interstate and went out into the county. Eventually, he made it over to Calks Ferry Road toward Fairview. At Old Charleston Road, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road. The trooper quickly took the man into custody at this point.

According to Jones, the man has been booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. He has been charged with Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Providing False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer, and trafficking Ecstasy. Trooper Jones did not provide the man's name.
