Investigation into death underway near Lexington

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department have started a death investigation near Lexington. According to the department’s Twitter page, they are at a home in the 200 block of Carriage Hill Court. This is off North Lake Drive just outside the town.

Crime scene investigators are at the residence gathering evidence at this point. Detectives are also talking to and interviewing neighbors.

Death investigations do not necessarily indicate that a crime has occurred. This normally indicates that someone has died and there isn’t an obvious reason the victim has passed. Investigators work the scene as if a crime has been committed until the coroner determines the cause of death. Then, if a crime has occurred, any evidence that might have been at the scene is preserved. If the coroner determines the death to be natural, and accident, or an act of God, she would act accordingly.

We will try and update this story as more develops.
