Lexington’s Rocky Havird named a DSS Employees of the Month

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Technology Services Site Engineer Rocky Havird was recently named an Employee of the Month with the SC Department of Social Services. After the award was announced, Havird said, “I was humbled and very appreciative. I love having the ability to work with and meet so many people.”

A typical day for Havird includes assisting users with computer issues, guiding employees on proper use of software and hardware configurations, assisting users remotely when needed, and helping keep the Staff Development and Training computers up and functional at the Browning Road and Lexington County offices. He also serves as backup for other Columbia DSS locations.

“Mr. Havird is continually recognized by his customers for the quality of his work, the timeliness of his service, and his great attitude,” his nomination states. “His customers appreciate that he takes the time to work with them to understand their individual technical problems as well as their time constraints.” In nominating Havird for this award, his co-workers said, “While Rocky’s technical abilities are strong, what truly sets Rocky apart is his attitude. He is willing to jump in and get done what must be done and will then volunteer to help where he can. Rocky is a wonderful asset to our Agency, and we are very grateful that he is part of our team.”

The South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Employee of the Month Program recognizes staff whose work exemplifies the department’s core principles of competence, courage, and compassion. Staff selected as part of the Employee of the Month Program are recognized with a luncheon with the state director for all the winners. They also receive a dedicated parking space, a photo and write-up displayed at state office and a write-up sent to their community newspaper.
