Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington’s VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 8738 is planning a Veteran’s Resource Fair that will be held next month. The fair is scheduled for October 10th, 2019 at the VFW post which is located at 424 Cedarcrest Drive in Lexington. It starts at 2:00 p.m. and is over at 6:00 p.m.
The event is co-hosted by VFW #8738 and SC National Guard Service Member & Family Care. The organizers invite veterans, both active and retired, as well as their dependents to come take advantage of the event. The purpose is to connect veterans with information about jobs, VA employment claims, behavioral health issues, health and wellness opportunities, family assistance, financial and legal guidance, and even educational opportunities. The people behind this also want local employers that have jobs to offer, state agencies, and others that provide military service members with resources and opportunities to participate as well.
There is no fee for people to attend or for a business to participate. RSVPs will be taken on a first come basis. Each registered vendor will have access to one table (4 ft) and two chairs, free WiFi, and electrical outlets will be available. There will also be spots where a job seeker can sit and fill out applications. Some employers may even do on-site interviews and hire people on the spot. The VFW will provide food and refreshments for vendors as well as a childcare area and hopefully a bouncy house for the children of the attendees.
