Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Eleventh Circuit Solicitor Rick Hubbard announced Thursday that a man that was a part of a group that held up a Cayce convenience store, Ronheim Syron Dease, was sentenced to 12 years for his part in the crime.
In 2016, Dease and three others robbed the Simba Express convenience store on Frink Street in Cayce. Officers with Cayce Department of Public Safety responded after the victims called 911 to report that two masked men with guns had come into the store and demanded money. They fled on foot to a car they had parked nearby.
Law enforcement officers from Cayce DPS spotted the suspects and initiated a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, the suspects led officers on a high-speed pursuit that at times reached 90 miles per hour. Dease and two of his accomplices were arrested. The fourth suspect has never been identified or arrested.
Cayce investigators and officers from the Swansea Police Department assisted in the investigation. Dease will be transported to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to begin serving his prison.
