Chapin’s We Care guides those who want to help fight hunger

Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – We Care in Chapin is helping bring recognition to the problem of global hunger by letting the community know where they can pitch in to win this battle. September is Hunger Action Month and the staff at We Care knows we can win the fight against hunger if everyone does their part.

On September 20th, 2019, you can help pack non-perishable items into food boxes that will be shipped internationally. This workday will happen on Saturday, September 21st at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Amicks Ferry Road in Chapin. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 11:00 a.m. In order to participate in this workday, you must pre-register by calling Nancy DeMuth at (803) 727-4513.

No time for packing boxes, no problem! Everyone will make time to eat and you can help by doing just that, eating out. On Monday, September 30th, you can take your entire family and enjoy a great meal at the Texas Roadhouse near Columbiana Center. When you go in, pull up the We Care Texas Roadhouse flyer from The Lexington Ledger’s social media post and show it to the hostess. You can also use a printed flyer if you have one. The hostess will seat you and your group, and 10% of your total check will be donated to We Care by Texas Roadhouse. It’s really that simple. Just eat out and help out all at the same time!

One of the best ways to help is to give. We Care’s shelves are bare this time of year. People have had back to school, college and high school sports, and lots of other things on their minds, but hunger is still all around us. You can buy groceries at any of the many stores in Chapin and drop them off at any approved donation location. You can always drop off donations during their normal business hours at the We Care pantry at 1800 Chapin Road. There are several other places you can drop off non-perishable food including the Chapin Town Hall and the Chapin Branch library. Call We Care at (803) 345-3244 for a complete list of donor sites. You can also make a monetary donation on the We Care webpage at www.chapinwecare.org/how-can-you-help/donation.

Another great way to help is to allow Scott Hanners’ State Farm agency to give you an insurance quote. For everyone who ask for a quote and mentions We Care, Scott will donate $20.00 to the food pantry. There is no obligation after you receive the quote. Scott can be reached at (803) 345-3135 or by e-mail at courtney@scotthanners.com.

No matter how you help, anything will be greatly appreciated. Each year We Care assist hundreds of people who have too little to survive. They distribute tons of food, baby items, hygiene products, and cleaning and everyday essential supplies. Get your children involved and do your part to stamp out hunger.
