Nephron Pharmaceuticals gift supports pharmacology program

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation and CEO Lou Kennedy continue their support of Lexington County School District One students with a generous contribution to the Lexington One Educational Foundation.

Kennedy recently donated $9,000 to the Foundation to cover course fees for students enrolled in Lexington District One’s Pharmacology course. The district offers the course at Lexington Technology Center and White Knoll High School.

This donation pays the $300-per-student fee for 30 students enrolled in Pharmacology for Medical Careers during the 2019–20 school year.

“We could not be more excited to partner once again with Lexington One,” Kennedy says. “These students deserve to be equipped with the very best educational resources available because they represent South Carolina’s — and our company’s — future workforce.”

This donation marks the third time that Nephron Pharmaceuticals has supported this program in an effort to open the class to all students in Lexington District One, regardless of cost.

In recent years, the company donated a laminar flow hood and related supplies to LTC. Nephron staff also visited the pharmacology class, sharing their industry knowledge with students.

“We are very thankful to Nephron Pharmaceuticals for the company’s continued support,” Foundation Chair Rosemary Wilson says. “We value corporate leaders and district alumni like Lou Kennedy who support public education and our students’ pursuit of their career goals.”
