Chik-fil-A “Cops on Coops” in West Columbia nets thousands for Special Olympics

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – Police officers from the West Columbia Police Department, the Cayce Department of Public Safety, and deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department hit a home run thanks to a giant spotted cow! Last week, the officers partnered with Chik-fil-A of West Columbia to host a “Cops on Coops” fundraiser for the SC Law Enforcement Officers Torch Run for Special Olympics. This organization helps thousands of special needs athletes across the state enjoy all types of sports.

For two days, officers worked the Chik-fil-A at Dreher and Augusta Roads taking donations from patrons and gifting food coupons provided by the restaurant. When the final donation was tallied, a total of $6,500 was raised!

Look for more opportunities to give in the future. Some of their other projects include “Cops on Top of Donut Shops” with the area’s donut vendors and “Calabash and Cops”, an event that will have deputies and officers dishing out seafood at Fatz Café. If you’d like to donate now, you can do so by going to http://so-sc.org/donate.
