Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A home near Lexington caught fire Monday evening causing firefighters to close one lane of Two Notch Road while the crews used water from a nearby hydrant to extinguish the blaze. Fire and EMS crews were dispatched just before 6:30 p.m. to the 2200 block of Two Notch near its intersection with Industrial Drive.
The caller who dialed 911 reported that this was originally a kitchen fire. Before the first equipment arrived, someone called back and said that the fire was growing in strength and size and had spread to other parts of the house. The county’s fire chief was the first to arrive on scene and he reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Within a few moments, fire engines from Red Bank and Round Hill arrived and began their set up to attack the flames. One crew wrapped the hydrant coming in and laid a large supply hose down one lane of Two Notch Road closing it to traffic. As other teams pulled up, their personnel joined in and crews made an aggressive attack. Within a short time, the fire was knocked down. It was reported under control before 7:00 p.m.
The structure was heavily damaged by the fire. Lexington County has not released its cause or an estimate of the damages resulting from the blaze. Firefighters were assisted by personnel from Lexington County EMS and the sheriff’s department.
