Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – A camper burned off Basil Road between Swansea and Sandy Run Sunday afternoon. The fire which was reported just after 4:00 p.m. was first thought to be another type of structure burning.
Although Lexington County sent enough equipment and manpower to fight a structure fire, most of those resources were released from the response before they arrived. This was due in part to the first report from firefighters who said that by the time they arrived, the camper had already burned to the ground. The remaining fire was extinguished quickly, and the last of the fire equipment and personnel were able to leave the scene shortly.
No cause for the fire has been released by Lexington County. It is not believed that anyone was injured as a result of the fire.
