Cayce man charged with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child

Cayce, SC - Investigators with the Cayce Department of Public Safety have charged a 22-year-old Cayce man with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child. Maximilian Pascal Krause was arrested without incident on September 25th.

Sgt. First Class Evan Antley, a spokesman for the Cayce Department of Public Safety, said Thursday that an investigation began on Sunday, September 22 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. Cayce Public Safety Officers were contacted by hospital staff who were treating a child that presented with numerous abnormal injuries. Antley said in a press release early Thursday morning that, “Based on our investigation, Maximilian Krause was responsible for the supervision and welfare of the 2-year-old earlier in the day while at a residence in the 1200 block of Oakland Avenue. During that time, Krause did cause injury to the child by dropping him onto the floor multiple times. Krause further placed the child’s welfare in danger by failing to obtain medical treatment after he realized the child was injured. Eventually, the child’s mother returned home from work and took the child for medical treatment.

Krause will have a bond hearing Thursday morning at Lexington County Bond Court. Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child is a Felony punishable by a fine or imprisonment up to a period of 10 years. This case will be prosecuted by the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
