Pine Ridge already preparing to help at Christmas through Shop with Cop
Pine Ridge, SC (Paul Kirby) – The officers of the Pine Ridge Police Department are already in a jolly mood as they are preparing to participate in Shop with a Cop this Christmas. The program, sponsored by Walmart, allows officers to offer some help to families in the Pine Ridge community in December.
According to the department’s social media presence, the purpose of the event is to foster positive relationships between youth and officers. Children will be selected during the holiday season to shop at Walmart with a police officer. Each child is given a small amount of money to spend, normally $50-$100 depending on the size of the child's family, so they can purchase gifts for their family members.
There are a few rules for this program. Nominations for deserving families or children will begin on October 1st. All nominated participants for the PRPD program must live in or attend a school in the Town of Pine Ridge’s attendance area. The deadline for nominations is November 22, 2019 at 5 p.m. and families selected will be notified no later than December 2, 2019.
To find out more about how you can nominate a family, call the Pine Ridge Town Hall at (803) 755-2500. You can also stop by during normal business hours at 2757 Fish Hatchery Rd. in West Columbia, South Carolina.
