Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home caught fire and burned in the 200 block of Haas Lucas Road between Fallow and Sharpe’s Hill Roads Monday. This is just west of the town of Gaston. The call for service came in around 5:45 p.m. and firefighters, EMTs, and law enforcement from across the South Region responded.
As fire equipment was enroute, personnel reported they could see a heavy column of dark smoke in the sky. The crew of the first arriving truck said they encountered a fully involved mobile home with outbuildings either involved or being threatened by the fire. They immediately began setting up to stop the forward movement of the fire and extinguish the flames.
It took crews about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. Teams spent additional time making sure there were no hot spots that would rekindle. It took them some time to clean up, pick up, and leave the scene after the fire was out.
Lexington County hasn’t said what they believe started the fire. The mobile home was destroyed by the blaze.
