Sheriff’s Department finds threat against school was not credible

Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday that they were aware of a post circulating on social media regarding a potential threat at Swansea High School. Their digital communications coordinator posted that they were currently investigating the situation and had been in constant communication with Lexington School District 4’s administration since learning of the post.

In their last social media post Wednesday, a spokesperson for the department said they had found no credible threat. In closing, the department said as part of their work to ensure a safe school environment for students and faculty, they plan to place extra deputies on campus and increase patrols in the area of the school.

If anyone knows of anyone that is or has made threats against a school, notify the school’s school resource officer or an administrator. You can also reach the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department by calling (803) 785-2521.
