Home damaged by fire in the Pine Grove area of the county

Pine Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) – A home was damaged by fire Sunday afternoon off White Knoll Way and Kitti Wake Drive. The fire was dispatched at approximately 12:30 p.m. bringing equipment and manpower to fight it from across the central portion of the county.

The first team of firefighters that arrived on the scene reported smoke coming from the ridgeline of the home. As more personnel pulled up, the firefighters formed teams and went on the offensive. The fire had spread into some hidden spaces in the home. The crews had to open those areas to ensure that all the flames were completely out. Although the initial fire was out quickly, it took considerably more time to make sure that all hot-spots had been located and extinguished.

The house was damaged to the point that it is currently uninhabitable. Lexington County hasn’t said what caused the fire.
