Chapin, SC - Ian Ashford officially joined the Town of Chapin on October 21 as the Zoning Administrator. In his new role, Ashford will be responsible for enforcing the town’s zoning ordinance and developing town policies to manage and plan for responsible growth.
Ashford comes to the Town after working for Fairfield County as the Community Planner under former Town of Chapin Zoning Director Chris Clauson. For Fairfield County, Ashford was responsible for interpreting and applying the zoning ordinance as well as floodplain management. He brings a wealth of industry experience, including but not limited to environmental science, natural resources, water resource management, land use management, agriculture, construction and surveying.
“We look forward to having Ian as part of our staff at Town Hall. We have a stellar team and we are excited to have him join us as we work to make Chapin a great place to live, work and play,” said Town Mayor David Knight. “We had a great rapport with Ian during the interview process and felt like he would be a great fit with our community.”
He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. While in college, Ashford played on the rugby team. He is a Texas Longhorn fan and currently resides in the Chapin community.
Ashford succeeds Julie Hammond, who left at the beginning of October to relocate with her family to Aiken.
