Man arrested after crime spree near Gaston

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) - Jesse Lee Gregory of Lexington County was taken into custody by law enforcement officers over the weekend after he broke into and ransacked a vehicle in the Gaston area. Witnesses say he later attempted to break into a structure and steal another vehicle before fleeing on foot to avoid captured.

Deputies began searching for Gregory in the 800 block of Meadowfield near Gaston Friday after the first vehicle break in. As he fled, he left a trail of other criminal offenses in his wake. Deputies took him into custody in the 900 block of Meadowfield before he could do any more harm.

Gregory is no stranger to law enforcement. He is a convicted sex offender that has been charged with failure to register several times. He has previously been charged with grand larceny, burglary, and gun possession charges among a long list of other charges.

Gregory was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center where he faced a bond hearing the next morning. A judge set his bond at $50,000. If Gregory does bond out, the judge stipulated that he will be on house arrest until his trial.
