Chapin Police Department hoping to identify pallet thieves

Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Chapin Police Department is asking the public to help identify several subjects and the vehicles they were driving after the recent theft of wooden pallets from an area business. They believe these suspects stole the pallets from the Publix at 1235 Chapin Road.

Officers say they believe that the white SUV caught on video is a Ford Explorer. There’s also a black SUV involved as well. The police think that vehicle is a Chevy Suburban or Tahoe. The black SUV was pulling a unique orange landscaping trailer with lawn equipment on it. The suspect's photos are blown up still shots taken from surveillance video. Officers believe the suspects pulled behind the store, exited the white SUV, and put the pallets on the trailer attached to the black SUV. This all took place in broad daylight at approximately noon on October 23rd.

Shipping pallets are not just a business’ trash. They cost money to make and buy. Businesses often pay a deposit on these when they come loaded off a truck. That deposit money is then credited to the business when the pallets are picked up by the shipper after their next delivery.
