Red Bank/White Knoll, SC (Paul Kirby) – The building pad appears to be at or near completion for the Starbucks of White Knoll. The high-end coffee outlet will be across the street from Lowe's on the street that accesses the Wal-Mart and the Shoppes at White Knoll. This is just behind the Aldi grocery store and within a few hundred yards of White Knoll High School.
Stripping, grading, and the construction of the building pad are the first major steps in most construction. Property owners who wish to develop commercial tracts must hire an engineer to work out what will happen to storm water in inclement weather. If this plan requires pipes be installed under the ground, those may need to be placed before concrete is poured. Each property is required to provide a space for storm water to accumulate until it can be absorbed by the ground. This could be an above ground retention pond or of some other design. All stormwater management rules are monitored by Lexington County. Of course, they also have other guidelines that builders must follow to ensure that structures are built to an acceptable and safe standard.
This expansion closely mirrors the model that Starbucks has been following while expanding in Lexington County. There is another one under construction across Augusta Highway from the Lexington School District One Career and Technology Center and Lexington High School. The one on Sunset Boulevard near I-20 already serves all the motorist living and commuting in that congested area. It is within a few miles of River Bluff High School. The newest store is also very close to BC High School on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce.
We have reached out to the company to see if they would provide a projected opening date. We have not heard back yet. If the pace of construction for their other stores are any indication, Starbucks fans should be enjoying their brew sometime in the first or second quarter of 2020.
