Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – Mike Clonts and Kay Hollis, both of which were running unopposed for reelection to their Chapin Town Council seats, easily won reelection Tuesday. There were only a few write-in votes cast in opposition.
Hollis had said over the summer that she wanted to retire after serving on the council for years. She waited until the last moment to file and then only did so after no one else would.
In two years, the mayor and several other councilmembers will need to decide if they plan to run for reelection. Councilman Al Koon said recently that the entire council is hoping that more young people will choose to get involved in the town’s government and offer themselves for public service.
