West Columbia, SC - Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individuals who died as a result of being struck by motor vehicles in the 700 block of Sunset Boulevard just before 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 7, 2019.
According to Coroner Fisher, Rodney T. Mack, 41, of Gaston was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Mack was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. An occupant of that vehicle, 27-year-old Mack S. Rogers, exited the car and approached Mr. Mack in order to render aid. Both men were then struck by another westbound vehicle. Mr. Rogers, of West Columbia was also pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Neither of the drivers were injured.
The West Columbia Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
