Fairview, SC (Paul Kirby) – A special need bus carrying three students from Pelion Elementary and three students from Forts Pond Elementary was involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon. The accident took place at James Dunbar and Calks Ferry Roads between Pelion and Fairview.
According to Lexington School District One’s Chief Communication Officer Mary Beth Hill, none of the students required medical attention. The bus driver appeared to have a wrist injury and that was being closely evaluated.
Law enforcement officials have said that the driver of the vehicle was committing several violations by driving the vehicle that struck the bus. Those included driving without a valid driver’s license and other serious allegations. Officers have not said what that driver will ultimately be charged with or if he was taken into custody.
Mrs. Hill did say that the District was most concerned with their students’ and staff member’s health and well-being. The District Office is closely monitoring the situation.
