Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington School District One Assistant Principal Erica Helen Page, 35, was taken into custody by law enforcement on Friday. She was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence. She was booked into the Detention Center but bonded out quickly. This is not special treatment. It’s common to receive a bond within 12 to 24-hours on charges like this that don’t involve extenuating circumstances.

According to Pelion High Schools website at http://phs.lexington1.net/administration/erica-page-assistant-principal, Page is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts in health promotion and education and in physical education. She also holds a Master of Education in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. Some parents have said she just recently transferred to White Knoll Middle School. She is also listed on the district's website as an assistant principal there.

According to public records we located, Page was roughly twice the SC legal limit to be operating a motor vehicle. They also indicate this was her first offense. We have asked the arresting agency for more and are waiting to hear back from them.

As soon as someone discovered Page had been arrested, word spread over social media like wildfire. Teens used several platforms to spread the word and by Saturday, parents were contacting The Ledger. Reactions were mixed as you would expect. More mature teens expressed sorrow and disappointment while other laughed or jeered.

Lexington County School District One has not yet made a statement regarding this. They do have policies regarding both students’ and employees’ behavior on and off campus. They have a long history of strictly adhering to those. All their policies can be found on the district’s website.

As always, Page currently is just accused of a crime. She is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
